Hosting a padel Americano night: the checklist
To host a smooth Americano night, book courts for your numbers, agree the format and the points, send one clear message the day before, arrive early to set up round 1, and collect every score before calling the next round. This checklist walks through each step and includes a message you can copy.

A week before
- Fix the date and book one court for every four players you expect.
- Ask who is in (a group-chat poll works) and aim for a multiple of four.
- Pick the format: Americano for mixing, Mexicano for mixed levels.
- Pick the points per match. 24 is the usual choice.
- Work out the rounds: at about 16 minutes each, two hours fits 7 or 8.
The day before
- Confirm the list and note who will be late.
- Get the schedule ready: print the page for your group size or set it up in an app.
- Check you have one new tube of balls per court.
- Send one message. Copy this and change the details:
At the court
- Arrive fifteen minutes early.
- Start with whoever is there. Latecomers join from the next round (late arrivals).
- Read out round 1: who plays with whom, and on which court.
- Explain the rules: new partner every round, every rally is a point, your points are yours, four serves each before the serve crosses the net.
- If anyone is resting, say what a rest is worth.
During play
- Let one person enter every score.
- Collect both scores from every court before calling the next round, then call it clearly: names and courts.
- Fix a wrong score straight away. It is much harder at the end.
After the last round
- Announce the top three, and any tie-breaker that decided a place.
- Play the final if you planned one (knockout guide).
- Share the table in the group chat.
- Set the next date while everyone is still there.

Questions people ask
How do I organise an Americano night for friends?
Book one court per four players, pick a format and points per match, send a message with the start time and rules the day before, and arrive early to read out round 1. Collect both scores after every round.
What should I send players before an Americano?
The start time, the address, the format, the points per match and a reminder to arrive ten minutes early. A short message in the group chat is enough.
How early should the host arrive?
About fifteen minutes before the first round, to check the courts, make any last changes to the player list and have round 1 ready to read out.
What do I need to bring as the host?
New balls for each court, the schedule on paper or your phone, and a pen if you keep score on paper.
